The House of Dalriada has a new Master. He will take charge in organizing and unifying our testing methods and will have a chair in the Abilities, Philosophy and Religious schools.

We are all very proud to have Master Luc with us!

Guest Hospitality

21:02 Dec 07 2008
Times Read: 722

The following are some of the main guidelines for guests and hosts proposed by the House of Dalriada and the Ab Actus.

Of course they should be taken with a grain of salt and these don't cover everything. If followed they should provide an answer to many things and help everyone involved have a great (and appropriate) time.

Although the main body of the Ab Actus is arranged in order of importance these are not.

Rules of Hospitality I

Guest

1. Do not impose yourself onto your host(s).

2. Do not interfere with the traditions, business or other workings of your host(s).

3. Do not ask for anything.

4. Do not complain.

5. Know when to become a guest and when to leave.

6. Do not request special accommodations.

7. Never get angry with your host(s).

8. Never walk around the property or home without permission. If a door is closed do not open it.

9. Offer your host(s) a gift upon arriving.

10. Follow your host(s) lead. Never take your shoes off unless asked but never be asked, offer.

11. Never arrive unannounced, unless the nature of your visit depends upon it.

12. Do not place your host(s) in a position to defend you. Never put your host in a position where they are at a hardship.

13. Keep any and all negative actions, attitudes, behaviours and problems away, unless that is the nature of your visit.

14. Never assume any right to remain at your hosts(s), or any right of behaviour.

Host

1. Offer everything to your guest(s) so that they may not be forced to ask for anything.

2. Never get angry with your guest(s).

3. Make every accommodation for your guest(s) traditions.

4. Inquire, before hand, about any special needs your guest(s) may have.

5. Always respect your guest(s) privacy.

6. Keep your guest(s) entertained and offer ways for them to occupy themselves should you be away.

7. Never ask your guest(s) to leave unless they fail to recognize their time to go. Always be polite.

8. Offer your guest(s) a parting gift.

9. Always take the lead in introducing your guest(s) to other people at your home.

10. Inform your guest of any special rules.

11. Make sure every room is cleaned and all things prepared before your guest(s) arrive.

12. Should a guest(s) arrive without notice welcome them, but place them in the parlor or other sitting room until a proper place has been made.

13. Do not hesitate to place yourself in a hardship to offer hospitality and protection to your guest(s).

14. Keep any and all negative actions, attitudes, behaviours or problems away, unless that is the nature of your visit. Never allow your guest(s) to see, hear or learn about an argument that occurred while they were there.

you forgot to add never spit in the fireplace, and never act the doctor lest ye be knowing and never sit at the head of the table of the masters house.
